Using liukulumikengät — short, wide skis designed for effortless travel over deep snow—we move quietly through frozen forests, open fells and peaceful river valleys. This tour is all about enjoying nature and experiencing the beauty and silence of the Arctic winter. We adapt the pace and route to your comfort level, choosing trails that match your fitness and experience. Whether you want a relaxed scenic journey or a more active day out, this tour is tailored for you. Along the way, we’ll stop to enjoy hot drinks and snacks, and later we’ll prepare a light lunch in a wilderness hut. Your guide will share stories about local nature, wildlife, and life in the far north. This is one of the best ways to truly feel the calm and magic of Lapland’s winter—slow, quiet, and completely immersed in nature. Practical Information What’s Included: - Transportation in a private minibus (pick-up & drop-off from your accommodation in Saariselkä, Ivalo and Inari area) - Hot drinks and snacks - Light lunch - Backcountry skis (Liukulumikengät) and poles - Pictures - Your dedicated, experienced guide Start Time & Duration: The tour typically starts at 9:00 AM and lasts approximately 8 hours. As this is a private tour, the start time and duration can be adjusted by prior agreement. The overall duration depends on pace, chosen route and conditions. Suitability: Suitable for guests 135 cm and taller with average fitness and the ability to spend several hours outdoors in winter conditions. This tour involves sustained physical activity and is not suitable for guests with limited mobility. Accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible. What to Wear: Dress warmly and comfortably.
